Topic: Acro Sport Newsletter Posted: Dec/12/2006 at 15:29 |

I've seen several mentions of an Acro Sport Newsletter, and back issues are available from those marketing the plans these days, but is there really a current newsletter, or is it defunct?

Pat, I tried getting copies from Acro Sport Inc. a couple of years ago. They were no longer in print and only a few back issues were available. I located some builders on the web who, between them, had all the issues. They sent them to me, I copied what was relevant to me and returned. Unfortunately, I do not have the names of the providers but if I could find them I bet you could too. During the process of finding newsletter copies I had builders send me a set of stainless drag wires, pre-bent aileron well sheet metal, fiberglass wing tips, etc. all for the cost of shipping just because they had the stuff laying around and knew there wasn't much of a market for it.
From my point of view there was not that much material in the newsletters. You can also go to the EAA website and get a list of every article published on the AS1 and download them. You can also get contact info on any builders that have registered their plane on the EAA site.
The following are all the addresses I have left of the contacts I made looking for the newsletters. I cannot tell you who provided what. Some are still in the building process, some provided articles for the newsletter and others no longer have the aircraft but all helped to some degree:
Don Brock - - donald21877@earthlink.net
Mark Newberry - newberry@pol.net
Ron Speiss - - racats@omniglobal.net
Keith Tridle - - ktridle@alloyweld.com
Hope there is enough here to at least get you started.

I bought the set of back issues from Acro Sport about a year ago and found them to be quite interesting. I reeived 35 issues ranging from Feb 1988 (Issue No. 22) Fall of 2003 (No. 73). I have found Neil Sidders, a tech counselor from Slidell, LA, who is on this forum, to be the best source of info on building Acro Sports. I believe he is a machinist by trade and his articles in the AS newsletter are very informative.

Thanks for the replys everyone, I may email some of the folks listed, and was already planning to purchase the newsletters from AcroSport, Inc.; I think they're $55.00 now plus mailing charges.
