Belt sander perhaps? Not sure if that'd be wide enough, but I think it'd probably be fast
enough.I had that thought. I'll probably give it a try, since I have one already. It'd be the
    easiest way.

It's probably this one: luck, El Piloto! Looks like a nice airplane, and for that price, I'm
not sure you could go wrong.

Nowhere to put it. Nice thing about building is that I'm on the hangar wait list now, and by
the time I'm done, I might actually be to the top of the list.Edit: plus, of course, the point
    of this whol...

Depends on the plane, but most pilots seem to need a break before their gas tank does. Even
with a canopy, I'd be planning 1-1.5 hour legs in a biplane. 340 nm at a stretch sounds like a

    perfect, but not far off.

Oh, I see I never updated with the final outcome. We added another 1/4" aluminum pad to the
rear mounting point of the main spring, and the mechanic rebuilt the tailwheel itself with new
    parts from Al...

If I understand it right, it will work with any old Mode C you have. It doesn't care what the
transponder is, it just listens to the ping and reacts accordingly. As long as the ping happens
    and is in ...

Thank you! This is what I was hoping to find out. I'm amazed I got a weld last time; it can't
be very deep. Preheating the whole thing makes sense, but I don't have a second torch right
    now. I'll have...
