Things are moving along, but most of the work isn't very visible. I'm currently at 415
hours. The main fuselage structure is all welded up, but I've left the cabane struts and
    firewall pins partially w...

Anyway, just curious if any rust preventative was used on the frame originally or if anyone
does when doing the repair?TIG and gas welding aircraft tubing has a lot of mythology around
    it, but current...

I can't make out the tail number, but what's the plane's backstory? I understand the extra
cross bracing in the first bay (it looks like it's all landing gear reinforcement), but I'm

I've heard of a spar cracking after a move from Florida to Colorado from someone who had it
happen to them, but it was in a different aircraft type which is more prone to spar issues. I'd

by the forest not the tree.I'd love to know what the alternative use for aircraft grade spruce
    is. I don'...

I might as well add an update, I finally finished my aileron ribs roughly a week after the
first post in this thread. All of the wing ribs are now finished, which has been a ton of work.
    76 wing ribs ...

My experience was that Spruce and Wicks don't let you pick capstrip grain direction online, but
they may be more accommodating on the phone or in person. I found that rectangular sizes tended
    to be cu...

Try making a perfect nose block without the notch for your capstrips out of thick MDF, and then
build a router table, buy or borrow a small router (I used a Bosch Colt), and get a 1/4" flush
    mount bit...
