Yup that photo was from my stop in Ashland. I stopped at Rancho Murieta as well. I probably could have made it with one but I'm a chicken on fuel in a new plane.

The handling qualities are pretty nice in the -4. I haven't done any acro yet but it's a bit lighter than the Skybolt overall. The visibility is phenomenal, even in the the three point attitude.

It's good to be chicken with fuel. I re-calibrated the dipstick for my Champ this weekend and discovered it was over 10% optimistic, which gave me a bit of a chill. Fortunately I've never really trusted it or other dipsticks, and have long preferred to put in X gallons, and then only count on having that amount. Works fine with the little tiddlers I fly, particularly once I'm reasonably certain of their fuel consumption.

Nice RV-4. I have quite a bit of time in RV-4's I even ordered a tail kit to build one. Then I was offered a deal I could not pass up. I too will probably be kicked off the forum but I do own a Great Lakes project and fly a friends GL. Here's my RV-3. It's fun to put Bonanza owners in there place when they brag about how much money they spend on speed mods and how fast they can go. It's fun to stay with them until they can't go any faster then leave them.

I was flying with a -4 and friends last weekend. For separation on return to base, he just pushed in some throttle and shot off into the distance. Very impressive indeed!

Course, I can out-turn him in a dogfight, at least on paper.
