I'm really glad there are people who can afford these or I would be out of work. Our last Turbine Legend went out the door at somewhere around $400,00 without paint or upholstery.

Still, I think I would be swapping to some RV wheel pants.

I realize it's a monoplane, but man what I would give to fly a Turbine Legend. A dream plane for sure...

Extra doesn't have the expensive market cornered on airplane toys. Swing on over to Cub Crafters web site and check out their latest offerings. As far as the Extra LT, I don't like the wheel pants but I would love to fly that thing. Its not like you're slipping out the back door of the tavern with the homeliest girl in the place. I would be glad to be seen in that ride.

It'll be a hard sell, she loves her Extra as much as I love mine.

Default Extra

I am not a fan of the Extras except for the 230 and 260, but the 400k Extra looks like a bargain compared to that absurd Icon at 369k????? If I had 400k I would have an SU26 and Glasair III and a lot of money left over for fuel.

Default Extra

False equivalence but haters gonna hate I guess. If there wasn’t the Icon A5 and 400k Extras what would Jim complain about? besides Jim you cannot compare an A5 to an Extra in anyway other than that they are both mono planes and both have room for two so why bother. You cannot land an Extra, SU-26 or glassair on water (well you actually can once &#129315 why even bring up the A5? I bet Jim you can build a Pitts S-1 for 10k today still with all new parts right? Like KK said this is now the going cost for high end planes these days. A $30k Pitts with low time and great fabric is a unicorn or a divorce sale. This 400k has been the price of high end certified aerobatic aircraft for over 10 years now why are so many people surprised by this? I challenge anyone to build an S1 with a 360 with all news parts a nice two color poly finish and new engine for less than $80k. I bet it will run you upwards of 100k. In summary I love most all aviation and we’re too endangered to be in-fighting with each other. Can we please get back to how smizo’s prop tips are red .

lololololol

Unfortunately the tips don't match the plane, although I was thinking about doing that with my prop until I realized it's not just paint on the MT tips.

I get as much of a rise out of my $300 racing fpv quad as my $xxx extra 300 and my gorgeous $xxx model 12s. It’s all about the experience people.

So back to the wheel pants... I could have added a baggage door to my Decathlon. It was an option. It just seemed totally wrong to me to have that on an acrobatic airplane for soooo many reasons. I find myself cursing myself every time I load that thing up with a lot sh$t when traveling with it. Still, given the opportunity to do over, I’d still omit the baggage door...

I don't buy new Lycoming engines. I build engines that are far better for much less money by careful shopping. My built from scratch S1S will be far below 80k in 2017 dollars. Butyrate dope finish.
I feel truly sorry for anyone who drank the Icon kool aid. Ever hear of Jim Bede?? or was that before your time.

Of course I know about Jim Bede. Ever heard of Elon Musk? I'm sorry I didn't drink from the Space X or Tesla Kool-aid or I'd have a Pitts, Extra, and A5!
