Default Biplane photo/video thread

Thought you all would enjoy these shots from the Sportys Fly-in last weekend. Weather was nasty but we had a few neat planes, including three Great Lakes biplanes. Sorry for the poor quality...they're all iPhone shots.

I needed a place to post these and figured we could have a "photo dump" thread for everyone to post their random biplane sightings or their own flight photos/videos.

And of course I couldn't leave this one out.

Nice pics Samuel. But man that yellow one's paint scheme is way wrong for a 1929 design. That new cowl Waco made up for it takes away from it too. Hope they sell some airplanes, though. Here's one sweet GL restored by Eric Minnis' Bully Aero outfit.

That new Waco Company yellow one just took the modern deal to far...wild paint, Pitts cowl, odd windshields. It looks like the workmanship is top notch but the design team needs to refocus. I'm sure the idea was the YMF is the "classic" and the new Great Lakes is the aerobat but in my opinion they missed the mark, its fixable and I'm very glad the Great Lakes is back in production. They need to look at the green plane in the post below...classic feel with a modern touch. Very well designed paint job. Again just my opinion.

Ok... I'll be the voice of dissent...

I like the new GL look. I also like the original look. I really like the Cirrus/Ranger look. The Warner kinda looks stubby to me.

Any of them would be welcome in my hangar!

What?!? You mean you don't like this look in a classic biplane?

PS - Which green plane?

Ok... I do draw the line at glass cockpits.

Open cockpit bipes need round dials.

Period.

There was a bunch of complaining when the new GL came out because of the paint. I think it looks great and the plane is fantastic. Some of you need to remember that they didn't mess up an older existing plane, they built a new one with new materials for a new age.

Well hell in that case they shoulda put spring gear, squared tips, 30% ailerons, and a canopy on it.

If you saw the huge set of plans for the Great Lakes you would see that $245k is about half of what it should sell for.

I had a set of plans years ago and decided it was not a task I was willing to take. There are many upon many little parts and pieces to build. I agree, 245k is a steal !

Steam gauges... glass... I'm happy to see someone investing their time and effort in to keeping these things coming out the doors.

I stopped by the schoolhouse while on vacation. This Pitts hangs in the lunchroom. Good inspiration.

It's not mine but I got checked out in it. My buddy took it down to the last nut and bolt. Complete rebuild. Amazing maneuverability.
