There use to be a few Pitts drivers. Two of the local monoplane guys come to our Colorado Contests.

There is a pilot with a Skyote that flies out of Moriarty. He posts on a few of the other aviation boards, maybe lurks here.

Hey Skip, I live in Socorro and have a SA300 I'm rebuilding/fixing and Larry Rydberg who lives in ABQ has a SA300 too. Ronnie Johnson is building a Gere Sport biplane in Socorro. There used to be a Pitts S-2 at Double Eagle but it was wrecked.

If you look at your sectional chart, you can appreciate the Truth or Consequences airport. It would make a great place to meet for acro, critique, and in general, all things biplane. Plenty of hangar space, and an easy flight from ABQ. You will probably be based at Double Eagle, Belen, or Moriarty.

I hear Moriarty is WINDY most of the time. There is also Mid-Valley just south of Los Lunas where you can buy a house with airport access...kinda narrow runway and a ditch along it to keep you on your toes. There is a SA300 there too but I can't recall the fellows name.

Double Eagle is nice. I've flow sailplanes out of Moriarity, it can be windy and you do get wave and rotor. Great for sailplanes. They do have a crosswind runway now.

If you live on the west side of ABQ Dos Eagle will be close, if you work on the east side you just set yourself up for an over 20 minute commute, I40 and I25 experience traffic backups. If you live in Socorro its 5 minutes to KONM an hour to ABQ-Kirtland!

I'll be working at Kirtland, so I want to balance living near work and the airport, I'll need hangar space for my S-1 and wife's Champ so it may be challenging. A house with a hangar would be great!
