Welcome to the forum.

Beautiful, Classic paint job. Still looks good after all these years. I wonder if the swoopy, splash of paint, dragons fire paint jobs will still be appealing 20 years from now.

Yes, very nice clean lines. How does it fly? Powerplant? That pic gives me motivation to get to the shop in the morning

Yes I am aware of this airplane and attended several fly ins with Tom when he owned it. It was based at Shellville Sonoma County in the North San Francisco Bay. Had a 180 HP lyc and a fixed pitch prop new style gear and a long engine mount. Was that I recall a very fast Too cruised around 130!

We attended Flanagans together ( Of the Flying Flannagans get togethers!) it was an invitation only all catered fly in, 40 miles south of Merced and 40 miles east of Los Banos two 4000 ft hard surface strips out in the middle of nowhere!

Five Starduster Toos a dozen Stearmans 6 Sraggerwings two MonoCoupes several T-6s and T-28s Eddie Andrenni put on a free airshow! Great food and great music! Just saw Molly flanagan at the Biplane fly in at Felts field Spokane Wash a couple of weeks ago!

Also Tom came to several of the Starduster open houses at Oroville Ca 95 & 96 shortly before he sold the airplane and it went to Florida. I think it is a good airplane and that you will have a lot of fun with it! Dave

Hey... thanks to all that commented on my plane....Dave pretty much summed up the specs... she still has an IO-360, fixed pitch, wieghs 1221 pounds empty. A little tail heavy even with the new gear, but it handles great. I've only had it about a month, i've done my tailwheel endorsement in this plane, it handles great on the ground and in the air. Although getting the tailwheel endorsement was one of the most humbling experiences in my flying career(15000+ hours, helicopter, airplane, airliners). It does demand your attention from the time you strap in it to the time you pull it in the hangar, but hey that's why we fly these machines... we want to fly them not just go along for a ride. The limited aerobatics I have done with one of my instructors have been very docile and predictable. Spins are very recoverable, but "wrap up" a little quicker than I was used to. Inverted oil is in its near future, maybe a constant speed prop, still undecided. The owner previous to me recovered the wings and painted them and done a great job.

My other instructer commented "she's just a big ole fun biplane", of course he flies a christen eagle so he would say that! hehe

Very pretty - love the long gear. Bet your friend with the Eagle enjoys the open cockpit for a change. Personally I wouldn't have it any other way but then I live in Texas. Congrats on the purchase and congrats on the tailwheel endorsement! You've got a very sweet ride!

A work of art. I wonder if the liberal arts mindset can appreciate beauty if it is a machine.
