As I recall the company went out of business in 1984. I also suggest doing a search on the subject chutes. I have two Security 250's I had packed a couple years ago but at the suggestion of Wes Lu I retired them. At my age, weight and physical condition they would be problematic. By that I do not mean they wouldn't function but that I would hit the ground, "like throwing a bag of coal off a train".

There was an "Acid Mesh" problem and several AD's on the Security 350 which as far as I could tell did NOT apply to the 250. The company put a 15 year life on the chutes I suspect in the hope of getting them out of the system but the company couldn't survive.....

Most companies put a life limit on their chutes but the FAA does not recognize it. It will be hard to find a rigger to pack one but if a rigger can be found the chute would probably be ok for a lighter person?

This chute appears to be in good condition and if a rigger can be found to certify it would in all likelihood be "safe". YMMV

Only my opinion and sorry if I've stepped on toes but I'm stuck with two of them.

Jack
