I am not a pilot nor do I have the time or money to become one unfortunately. If you have any doubts of the legitimacy of this posting, I am happy to talk over the phone to address any doubts. If you have any concerns of the planes mechanics, you may come out and take a look for yourself or we can coordinate a mechanic to take a look if you are not in the area. I do not wish to waste anyones time, I would like to get this plane to an owner that will take care of it and put it to good use.

if you look on the website of the hangar where it is kept you can see it on the front page http://masseyaero.org/

Oh interesting - I had no idea folks had devised fuel injection for the C85.

Good luck on the sale!

C-85-F had it from the factory. Looks like a neat miniplane.

C-85 Excello fuel injection (if thats what it is) works well when it works. They are nearly obsolete and pricey to rebuild.

It is an Excello. In 1982 it had a major overhaul, I have attached a photo of the engine log listing all the improvements. Is it a crime to try and sell the engine alone? From talking to the folks at the hangar, it sounds as though they are pretty well sought after.

Is it a crime? No, it is yours apparently. Always a bit odd when something like this comes up for sale by a person that doesn't seem to know anything about it. Makes the efforts of the builder go kind of unnoticed. Miniplanes are little treasures and are time pieces. There is no "kit" that made it an easy assembly job. Somebody had to make every single piece of that airplane from plans and raw material, no speedy factory parts.

Saw your ad for this Miniplane on barnstormers. The cheap free ads don't sell airplanes like the picture ads. I recommend spending the money and posting pics. Four outside shots with an instrument panel/cockpit shot is usually a good start.

Good luck with the sale. They're great little airplanes but the market is tight. This one looks neat. One of the guys on the forum just finished repainting his in US Navy colours.

May we ask how you became its owner? Buy at a Auction or something? And yes, it is a crime to remove a engine from perfectly good Smith Mini plane just because...I crime to humanity. You wouldn't want to do that would you??? (Seriously, if it's as nice as it looks...find a person who understands and respects what it is. If you want to make a quick buck selling the engine will leave you with what? A even harder to sell airframe. It will sell, you might get ahold of a local EAA chapter or someone off here that's close and have them broker it for you...it will sell faster and for more from someone who knows what they are selling. No disrespect, it just seems like maybe you came into this on a whim or accident and need some help to get it to a proper owner to make you happy and the airplane gods)
