Default Aileron control rod tunnel covers...

I noticed Russ's cockpit photo with his aileron push rod tunnels, can anyone suggest procedure, material and thickness for making these? Its hard enough to get out of the cockpit and they looks like they could be used as steps to push off with in getting out?
Thanks...

I'd just use .040 aluminum, whatever flavor you have on hand. Roll them over and put flanges on them with a brake.
Even then, I wouldn't use them to push on.
I didn't put them back in my Skybolt, I just keep my feet off of them.

Default Shoot...

Awe Doug, I was hoping they would be tuff enough for regular in and out, so they have to be super heavy to support? Anyone else have a good idea for this? As folks with Stardusters know its where you want to push with your leg to get up.

I fabricated some heel blocks to go just behind the push tubes to help with getting in and out.

Mine were a bit easier because the floor is wood and I could just glue the blocks in place, but it shouldn't be too difficult to come up with an aluminum part that could be riveted in place.

Default My floor is only to the lower frame bottom diagonal bracing...

So doesn't extend back to the truss member for the rear wind spar.
