I think they are live streaming and the dumb questions are coming from viewer thru the friend.. no less annoying

Did he draw up his own plans or design or just winging it ?

Well he is taking some big personal risks but damn how many kids do you know that have the drive to pull that off. Lots of kids take way more risks with driving drugs etc and involve others and learn nothing. Color me mostly impressed.

That's a good way to put it. I can't help but be impressed with what he's done, but watching the risks that he's taking makes me cringe.

I cringe when I watch 6g pulls at 500ft to level but it impresses me. The kid will do great things no doubt, start a company, make something cool, or die early or trying.

He took advice when it seemed more safe or reasonable to him. He analyzed and tried to mitigate risks to the best of his ability.

He built an aircraft in his momís basement without a kit or plans, took it outside, and flew off into the sunset! Iím impressed.

I think there is another way to look at what was accomplished:

If you are familiar with the flying objects he built before Flite Test, during his stint with Flite Test, and now after....it seems he took the next gigantic step - build a model airplane that can haul a person. He has done it and it is impressive.

To me he wasn't trying to build an ultralight, or a biplane, or an electric aircraft - he was building a really big model, a totally fresh design much like all of the smaller aircraft he creatively constructed and flew with a transmitter/receiver - only this time it had to carry him.

I think this thing has totally bridged the gap between the current electric RC world and the real airplane world. It's neither one of those, and it's pretty dang cool.

In my opinion there isn't anything left to prove with this aircraft, so retire it and hang it from the ceiling somewhere while he and it is still in one piece.

Im a doubting Thomas on most ULs; There is a lot of trust in minimalist engineering. The Legal Eagle is one of the only ones I trust construction wise because it is conventional. What this guy has done is slapped the face of all the other guys wanting to go electric. And he did it with a biplane! Although I think there are some problems in his construction that I did not like, he did mix, biplane rigidity, with Rutan like foam with conventional and some model construction. He made weight and probably by making it a twin was smart. He got prop disk area and he got the trust away from the fuselage for less waisted thrust. At least he is not looping it or spinning it like he first wanted to do; I think he realizes that was a little too much. I be we see some clones soon. On the other forums, the electric dreamers are a big group. The plane is almost a cross between WW1 DH2 and a Spad A2.

It would be nice for this young man to spend an hour with someone going through his as-built design so he could learn from his choices.

I would be happy to see him stop flying it before he gets enough altitude to do stalls. He never has done a proper W&B and that alone is concerning to me.

I gotta give the kid credit for such an accomplishment, but agree he should stop flying it and go on to the next build .
I did have to laugh when he was buckling his seat belt .......what part of the Igloo Cooler are the attach points ?..

Very impressed. There is some pretty good on the fly engineering in that project. Bravo. Now hope he gets some flight training.

I'll be darned... he actually did it. People probably scoffed a lot at the Wright brothers back in their time. Kudos to him.
