Default Christen Eagle Fuel Pressure

Just replaced the fuel pump because of a ruptured oil diaphram

Airplane seems to fly fine after a test flight

15# fuel pressure when full rich max prop (climb out)
3-5 # fuel pressure at 2400 RPM leaned mixture

Can't find any specs in the operating manual

What fuel do others see?

Thanks

Fuel injected engine with fuel pressure hooked to read pump pressure?

I have an IO320. I get closer to 30# full throttle and 20# in cruise.

If you happen to have a PS5C pressure carb. 15# max. is correct. If you have a FI engine, I wonder if you have the wrong pump.

Some systems measure fuel pressure at the spider, if so disregard the above????

sounds like presure at the spider. poh should give psi to gph conversion.

What did it do before?

I'm assuming that your pressure gauge is hooked to the flow divider, rather than the output side of the pump? If so, the 15psi a bit high, but I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe make sure your injectors are clean. A clogged injector will cause the pressure to be higher. Or, maybe you're near sea level? Or, maybe you've got smaller injectors than I do?

Mine holds11-12 psi WOT, full rich. Leaned out at 3-4 psi sounds normal. I go down to 2.5 psi for lean of peak operation.

Does your fuel pressure needle bounce any? Mine does sometimes, particularly during climb out after a hot start. Engine runs fine though, and I know there are no air leaks on the suction side of the pump.

Default Christen Eagle Fuel Pressure

The bouncing needle is easy to fix if thr gauge has a snubber. In many there is a screw in the fuel pressure fitting hole and you just remove the 90 an fitting , put a 1/4 turn on the screw and reattach. Can be done very easily.

Also if needle gets stuck or lags just loosten the snubber screw 1/4 turn.
