Para-Phernalia, in conjunction with the Seattle Glider Council, has invited Allen Silver to once again conduct his excellent Bail Out Seminar during the Soaring Expo at the Museum of Flight.

Allen Silver offers an energetic, interactive seminar on all aspects of a bailout including mental attitude, pre-flight preparation, how to get out of your aircraft, deploying your parachute, and landing safely back on earth. You’ll also learn many other steps you can take to increase your chances of surviving a bailout and even how to choose the right parachute for you.

Don’t miss this informative & entertaining presentation by Allen, one of the world’s leading experts on how to escape from a disabled aircraft quickly & safely.

As a skydiving instructor, parachute rigger and pilot, I encourage all that are able to, to attend. Allen Silver has a great reputation in the industry and I know from my own personal experience as a rigger, that most pilots have not made the mental commitment to use their parachute if necessary. Which means by default; one is inclined to continue with what they are most comfortable with…fighting for control of the aircraft.

Thanks Brad...I've listened to several Webinars on the EAA site and missed that one. I'm gonna listen to it tonight.
Would love to go in person...oh well.

John, would like to have met you, guess I'll see you at the race in June.

Allen also does the seminar at the Arlington Fly In so you can catch it there as well.

I'm sure we'll run into each other soon, Doug.

I just finished listening to Allen Silver's webinar and feel compelled to point something out:

When discussing the difference betweena Senior and Master Rigger he mentions (at around the 18 minute mark) that a Senior Riggercan only pack parachutes under supervision. I'm sure the mistake was inadvertant, but this is not the case... seeFAR 65.125.The distinction is instead, very similar to the differences between the A&Pand IA ratings.Whereas, a Master Rigger can also perform Major Alterations and Repairs. However in this case, there is no difference in who can perform Inspections. Without putting words in his mouth, I supect what he meant to convey is that if one goes to their local dropzone they may find it difficult to find a Senior Rigger with experience packingand maintaining round parachutes.
