A Van\\\'s RV homebuilt scoots across the ramp at the 2012 Nat\\\'l Biplane Fly-In.
Once the wood-framed built-from-scratch homebulit biplane was the state of the art for aircraft homebuilding -- but today the Vans line of modern, all-metal, semi-monocoque (hollow-shell) \'kitplane\' designs has come to clearly dominate the world of homebuilt aircraft, with sleek, efficient, comfortable, easy to build, easy to fly, acrobatic aircraft, with from 1 to 4 seats, built from a largely pre-fabricated commercial kit. The 2012 National Biplane Fly In welcomed all comers, though those with an \'inadequate\' number of wings were sequestered on another side of the ramp.
