• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I have a 0-320 H2AD in a Little Toot. The engine has 1800 hrs on it with all compressions around 70. The #3 Cylinder on climb out or cruising is consistantly around 430 degrees (2400 rpm) all other cylinders are 325 to 350 degrees,if I pull power back to 2100 it cools down to 385 or so. I have checked the cowling, thermocouples, air intake tubes for leaks, carb linkage (fuel shutoff), etc... Lycoming said it should be 150 to 400 degrees for optimum cylinder life and never exceed 500 degrees, the hottest it's gotten is 445, oil temp runs around 195 to 200 and egt's are all normal. Has anyone run into this before? Is it normal on a 0-320? I only have about 8 hrs on the plane and don't want to hurt my engine, but I have no history on this engine to know if it's normal or not. I'm open for any help or suggestions. Thanks Steve
