Hello Everyone,
I am building a Steen canopy on the Skybolt per the 1998 plans. 3M 2216 Scotchweld is the adhesive specified to bond the 4130 tubing to the canopy plastic. Note the tubing is also screwed to the canopy. The benefit of this adhesive is its ability to flex while in service and not debond. I also assume it adhears well with acrylic or plexiglass. It is also an aviation certified product.
The 3M 2216 adhesive is ~$150 / pint. Is there a less expensive alternative adhesive that will provide equivalent performance? Otherwise I will click the order button for my Spruce Order .
