• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I recently took some aerobatic instruction in a Decathlon and I am anxious to get started in my ASII. But, it is currently down for a prop strike inspection. Consequently, my propeller is at the prop shop getting overhauled. I get a free repitch at overhaul and I was wondering if I should take this opportunity to get it done or not.

Currently, I have a metal 76x56 Sensenich prop bolted on to a 180hp O-360. At full throttle, level flight, I get 2850 RPM (verified with an optical tach) at 145-150mph. Full static RPM is 2350. I cruise at 2500 at about 125mph. This prop is great for climb, but it redlines the engine really quickly in a dive. So, I was wondering if I should go up on the pitch a couple inches to help keep the engine from overspeeding and to let the airplane build more airspeed.

What are the group's thoughts? What arethe fixed pitchASII guys running on theirairplanes?
