Call the aircraft salvage yards. They get some airplanes with good engines but broken or economically unrepairable wings and/or fuselages.

Best of luck,

Thanks. But the AEIO is needed for the S2b . Or do you know how to transfer into aeio?

I think most of the 540's use the same dynafocal style mount. I'm using an O-540-E4B5 in my Skybolt, which is a "narrow deck" engine.. they're supposed to be a little more immune to crankcase cracking from what I've read. It has a solid flange crank, and the prop gov. is mounted on the Left front of the case. I took the liberty of drilling the 4 holes in the back of the case and adding a couple of bosses to the oil sump to mirror the AEIO style engines. I'm not really sure what else is different between mine and the aerobatic ones.. mine is supposed to turn 2700 RPM and 260 horse. I'm converting to fuel injection, and my sump is an updraft style.. the servo will mount on the bottom of the sump. I think the AEIO uses that style sump, as well as the front draft style according to the parts manual. What style did the previous engine in yours use? The cowling might be the only thing you would possibly have to modify a bit depending on how the air enters.

I called One Stop Aviation and left a message on their answering machine.

It is likely they are not open until Monday. I'll try again then.

There has been a AEIO540D4A5, factory new, for sale on Barnstormers
for months. It's in Germany. Good price.
Is there something wrong with it?

No papers. No Logs. Never moved since it was built. My Dealer said its too expensive. At the moment I try to finish the wings.
What do you think about an engine from 1978. that has been never turned?
