• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Below is our battery mount in progress. It is built to hold the Odyssey battery with the aluminum cover on it's side. The recess actually fits the Concorde 25 series without the cover if we change our minds and decide to go that route. Then we would fabricate a bracket for the top of the Concorde battery and use the center nutplates for attachment.
The sheet metal is .040 4130. The square tube steel is 3/4 X .035 I had left over from something else. We are still missing some K3000 corner platenuts to complete this. It will be mounted to the rear of the pilot's seat and to the floor tubes with 5/8" X .035 round tubing.

I think the aluminum cover is about the lightest means I can think of to hold the battery in place. I could have been happier without the black paint finish but that is the way ACS sent it.
