• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hello All,
<DIV id=ms__id23849>I've been looking like crazy for the past few years for any info/articles/etc. on the "Black Magic" (N8M)Caro Bailey Pitts S-1C replica that was built by a Ted Teach. I saw it at Oshkosh a few years back, and it was absolutely stunning, but I've seen no articles on it or any details, other than that its a replica of the number 3 Pitts built. I have been heavy into researching the early S-1's....what I call the "historic Pitts Specials"trying to get as much info as possible for a potential build of a #2 Pitts replica (what became the famous "Little Stinker")
<DIV id=ms__id23850>Any answers to the following questions would be fantastic:
<DIV id=ms__id23851>1) Is the Black Magic replica just a standard S-1C? Long fuse or short?
<DIV id=ms__id23852>2) What plans were used?
<DIV id=ms__id23853>3) Any technical, dimensional info on the first 3 Pitts Specials would be great (How they differed from the straight S-1C plans that came out in the 1960s).
<DIV id=ms__id23854>Thanks all for any help....
<DIV id=ms__id23855>Pete
