• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi!

My electric boost pump (Dukes 4140-00-17) for my Firebolt with an injected Lyc 540 failed today. The pump does not turn, but it pulls amps (but not so much to trip the breaker). There is electricity, fuel etc all the way to the pump. The pump failed with an almost full tank (thus, it did not run dry).

I'd like to ask for some suggestions. I believe these are some plausible options:

- rebuild the Dukes pump (Aircraft Spruce $1532 if I send in my core),

- buy a new Weldon 18000-A (ACS $730 and keep my core),

- buy a new CJ Aviation pump (ACS $685),

- or buy an Airflow Performance, Andair, or some other pump.

I believe the Weldon and CJ Aviation pumps are a plug-n-play replacements, which would be nice. The Dukes pump appears excessively expensive and since one has already failed I think I'll stay away from that option. I have heard good things about Weldon. Does anybody agree/disagree? Does anybody have experience with CJ Aviation's pump? Other suggestions?

Thank you!
