Sometimes aircraft repair can be like Forrest's box of chocolate;
The right main gear on my Smith was towed out 5 1/2 degrees and the welds looked really bad. So, thinking maybe I could remove the old welds and at the same time cure the toe out problem, I proceeded to start grinding. I was totally not prepared for what I found. Anyway I thought I'd share it.
This is the inside sleeve repair method. The pipe is the finest galvanized schedule 40 money can buy.
Needless to say, material for the new gear has already been ordered.
Ya just never know what ya gonna find!
Cheers,
E
