Question, On my Pitts S-1, I have an older factory welded fuselage that has the stringers going all the way to the instrument panel instead of ending at the rear of the seat. I want to change it to the newer version by putting the .025 steel formers over the fuselage diagonal at the rear of the seat so I can have sheet alum in the cockpit area. My question is, can I braze the .025 4130 steel straps onto the fuselage instead of welding it in place. I have brazed other parts like the 3/8 tubing for the trim cable inside the elevator for the trim tab and brazed nut plates onto steel sheet with out problems of them coming loose over time. Any one see a problem brazing instead of welding?
