Yesterday, Aug 26, 2022, I had the honor of having Buck Roetman fly "Unfinished Business". Buck is the first pilot other than myself to fly my biplane, and it was such a thrill to be a witness, seeing it takeoff and climb out, and a half-hour later to return to the pattern and shoot three landings before taxiing back to the hangar. It is such a beautiful biplane and to see it fly for the first time from outside the cockpit chilled me with excitement. This airplane is a handful to land because of poor visibility but it sure flies beautifully! Buck was thrilled with the handling, said it reminded him of a YAK 55. Buck is one of the ACEs (aerobatic competency evaluators) who checks me annually to renew my SAC (statement of aerobatic competency) card so I can fly airshows. He is a wonderful mentor and friend, and I trust him implicitly in his skills as a pilot and in his counsel that keeps me safe in the airshow environment. Thanks so much Buck! What a thrill it was for me!
