• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).

Builders Glossary

Hi all,

I was wondering if everyone would be willing to contribute to the creation and maintenance of a builders glossary for aircraft. It could be available from front page link or under resources. I thought I knew a lot about planes until I decided to build one and quickly learned what I didn't know about what is inside of them. I've seen users in threads patiently explaining what a "cap strip" is and used for. I'll admit I didn't know.
Some of these I did.
Formers, stringers, cabane and interplane struts, gussets, false ribs...

I guess it would initially take permission and willingness of the wonderful and probably overworked admin to set something up like a wiki and then everyone could contribute to reduce the workload. It would be a great resource for beginners and for those just to shy to ask.

Thoughts? Criticisms?
