• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

We are building all of our butt ribs for a Skybolt Delta. The center section has 5/8"w X 3/4"t capstrips plated each side. The outer wing butt rib has 1/2"w X 1/4"t capstrips plated each side and the lower wings have the standard ribs plated each side as on the S version. We were thinking the center wing butt ribs were wider than normal to allow for attaching the fairing between the wings with screws. The outer wing butt ribs appear to have been drawn at a different time. We are thinking of backing up the capstrip with another piece of 1/4X1/2to create more meat to attach the fairing. The lower wing obviously has no provision to attach the fairings so I am picturing blocking added to the outboard side of the butt rib.

I am wondering how the fairings are attached on Acrosports and Stardusters? We just want to be sure we don't need toadd anything before closing up the last side on these butt ribs.
