• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Has anyone drawn a cad version of the Starduster Too airfoil, (reportedly M6). I digitized the rib drawings into CAD from an old set of paper drawings. I know they are accurate enough to build a “one off” airplane but for cad there is a lot of variation from rib to rib in areas that should be identical. I could average the variations but this is the time to get it right. I downloaded the M6 coordinates and overlaid the M6 on the Starduster ribs, even more variation with that! From the M6 plot, among other things, the M6 rib is thicker aft of ~30% on top, and towards the trailing edge the M6 has a considerable upsweep. I thought the coordinate file I downloaded might be wrong so I investigated it from different sources and got similar or worse results. Maybe, as has been done with many other designs, Lou looked at the M6 and modified it to his liking?
