• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

My friend Ron Powers moved here to Tucson a few years ago. So now we can discuss many of the planes and happenings of years past. A few days ago I asked if he still had the photos of his dad's "Clipped Wing" Knight Twister--- here they are:

A final note: He later fitted a 175 Menasco inline. Since it was still winter in Minnesota he installed skis for the test flight. The test flight was unsuccessful with the tiny aircraft tumbling out of control, cartwheeling off the side of the runway. Shortly after all of this melee, young Ron sighted his dad waving at everyone in the vicinity of the wreck. Ned was a little banged up, but thankful that one of skis missed him by me are inches, passing through the fuselage aft of his bum. N17E was no more. Ron posed a photo years later getting into his Acroduster similar to his dad's, both photos hang in his office today. The Acroduster still flys today at 43 years since it first took flight; but that's another story
