My question revolves around off season(winter) storage of wings with built-up or plywood wooden ribs and laminated wooden spar and ply wood leading edges. The rest of the airframe is straight forward.
My primary concern is the glued joints condition maintenance(read strength). Scenario is, constructing a new set of wings, that will need to be stored in an unheated shipping container over the winter, every winter.
I'm located in the far north of Canada, but for all intensive purposes, just think inland Alaska weather conditions. Generally low to very low humidity with average temps of -13F to -15F, with slow deviations into the -40 range. Storage season will be 7 months, Oct. to April inclusive.
How would these storage conditions affect the glue joints(temp. variations/contraction/expansion)?
Seeking advice as to possible issues in these storage conditions and possibly the best adhesives and/or construction techniques to use in fabrication of a new wings.
Would some specific adhesives work better(maintain high quality joint strength) than others, in these particular storage conditions?
Would plywood ribs be better than built-up ribs in these storage conditions?
(Skybolt with 3 piece wing)
Any hints on wood wing storage in these condition would be appreciated.
