• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

This question is more a matter of curiosity than anything else. Still, it's driving me nuts for no good reason and I figure that somebody here knows this inside and out.

As I understand the attached propeller load chart, the curves PROPELLER LOAD SPEC. FUEL CONS. and PROPELLER LOAD CORR B.H.P are paired as are FULL THROTTLE SPEC. FUEL CONS and FULL THROTTLE CORR. B.H.P.

So I might ask myself what's the fuel consumption and HP at full throttle and 2300 RPM. Using the FULL THROTTLE curves the fuel consumption would be ~.545 lb/hr/hp and the HP would be ~122. Is that right?

So let's say that I pull the throttle back 1/2" and we arrive at 2200 RPM. Do I now use the PROPELLER LOAD curves to come to the conclusion that the fuel consumption is .475 lb/hr/hp producing ~79hp?

It seems like I'm missing something obvious to everybody else. If you multiply out the numbers on thee PROPELLER LOAD curves you are very close to the published performance numbers for that engine.
