Somebody tell me why using an air spring instead of a stack of donuts is a bad idea, assuming I can make it fit.
As an example, Goodyear has an air spring, 1B6-538, with an internal bumper and a top load of 22oo lbs, and a usable stroke of 4.8 inches. The max diameter is 6.5, which might work at the top of the charger gear setup.
These guys have them for $117 each: https://fluidpower.processcontrolsolutions.com/goodyear-air-springs/. It has to be a better solution than the donuts or a stack of spring washers.
