• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I am installing the radio in my ASII project. The original builder had, what I consider, an incorrect supply circuit. This is the second time I have seen this. I rebuilt a Kitfox that had supply from the power buss to each switch, then to a breaker, and then to a component, radio, lights, etc. Now, wiring in my ASII radio the original builder installed power form the buss to an "Avionics" switch, then to a sub buss, and then to Klixon breakers for each avionics component. The breakers were also being used as switches for those avionics components.
My question is why would someone, actually 2 out of 3 of the planes I have rebuilt, chose to add the breakers after the power switch? It doesn't make sense to me to leave the switches and, now with the ASII, a sub power buss, unprotected.
Am I missing something with aviation electrical circuitry fundamentals. The quality level of everything else in both the Kitfox and this ASII project is exceptionally high.
