• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hello everyone from Holland.

A few weeks ago we bought the remains of an SMP, the former N788, apparently a Weil special.
What's certainly special is the 2 part upper wing has only 2 attachment points in the middle as opposed to the four I see in most of your planes.
The project will give us something to do this winter....
She's totally stripped now and the frame is nearly ready to be powder coated.
Then I came across the "elevator attachment change" in this forum.
It's build in 1974 an I have no idea if that change was incorporated at that time.
If we have to change it, it would be more practical to do so before we've got it coated...
Perhaps there are some other major or minor changes that we should do now we
still can, looking for advice of the experts here on the forum.
Left my camera on the field, will try to post some pictures next time.
Thank you in advance,

Simon
