In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi my name is Larry and I am restoring a 1990 vintage Skybolt. I am installing a Firebolt cowl and have noticed vey little clearance between the nose bowl and engine valve covers. I looked at the various treads on this site and notice other owners have had the same issue. I noticed someone cut the nose bowl in three sections and widened the nose bowl. Could someone that has accomplished this give me some pointers on where to cut and how to widen the nose bowl. Looks like 0.75 inch on each side should work. Also did you widen the firewall to match?
Thanks
