I have stated from the very beginning of my build that the wood part would be the most difficult for me because of my limited experience with wood.......my experience is with formica cabinets. Easy to cover all of your sins with formica and a belt sander.
Not so with spruce...
My ailerons are just not what they should be. One upper has the ribs at a slightly incorrect angle. One lower isn't sitting flat on a flat surface. Another upper has one rib that, for some dumb mistake I made, is not sitting flat, rather, pointing upward.
So, I must make the difficult decision of trashing these things and starting over. If I accept the workmanship as it is, it will not endanger me but will greatly detract from the finished product.
It's not easy to admit you goofed....but I did.
I realize this is all a learning process, as there was a time that I trashed a few engine cylinder bores while learing how to machine them. ...I trashed a lot of metal tubing making some crooked racing frames and started over.....
Oh well.
