• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Yesterday I had the honor and privilege of flying acroeric's beautiful S-1C. What a sweet machine. Has IO-320 w/ 10:1, S-1S length fuse and lower wings. 780 lbs. First time in a S-1C. It rolls better than I expected. Stick forces are nice without spades and ailerons have great feel. I'm guessing it rolls only about 30 deg/sec. slower than the S-1S. Feels a little more Cub-like than my S-1S. You can feel the airfoil difference. Comes off the ground more like a Cub than mine. Slightly more push needed flying inverted. Doesn't descend or slip down as quickly as my S. Has rod tailwheel spring which seemed to make it more stable on the ground than mine. Just a pure, super fun Pitts. Must be one of the best S-1C's in the country. I know that few these days want to invest in the resources to build or restore an S-1C vs. the S-1S, but it's really a great flying airplane for anyone in the market for an S-1 and who can find a good one. Lots of people seem to discount the S-1C as a significantly lesser airplane, but it is not. If it was, I wouldn't want to fly it again so bad. :)
