• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I have a 0-320 a2b. When I bought it I was aware of the flat cam problems and lack of use. The gentleman that built it got too old to fly it easily so it had a lot of slack time. The price and the plane was right so I was happy with the deal even knowing the possible future. A hanger neighbor recently had his cam go flat on one lobe, an 320. He is very knowledgeable.
He said if you pull the dipstick with fairly clean oil in the crankcase and you see a black line on the trailing edge of the stick that is a bad sign. ?comments. Engine has 1300 hrs with a 2300 static run up and a 72 52 wood prop. compressions all around 72. I also checked it with an automotive type check and recorded the readings about 30 hrs ago. I will do it again soon and compare them.

Also would appreciate advice on where to buy.

You guys are very knowledgeable and I am sure many of you have been down this road. Any advise appreciated.
