Hey all,

I am trying to help a nice older gentlemen at the airport clean out his hangar and sell a couple things, one of them being this Pitts S1. I am not the seller of this but will do my best to answer any questions regarding it. He is the original owner and builder (who is an A&P). It a decent amount of custom fairing work on it. Good craftsmanship.

UPDATED INFORMATION:
-Logbooks Found, Phase 1 Complete, Had Airworthiness, Registration Expired
-Originally Certified in 1971 as a Short Fuselage S1C. It then flew approx 150hrs. Airframe rebuilt/recover completed 1985, with Sparcraft S1S wings. Engine overhauled.
-Times are now ATT: ~180 ETT: ~27 Since overhaul in 1985 *I need to spend more time with logs to verifty*
-While not flown, engine oil changes took place every year with 30 min runs up till 1998/1999, then the logbook entries stopped. He might have still done it and not done the entries, but it did not fly.

----------------------

-O360 with Inverted F/O
-Paint and Fabric in decent shape. Always hangared.

He is "asking" 35k. But this is mostly a "Make an Offer" type of deal and it will have to be a very flexible one. He is eager to sell.

It is a looker! That's for sure...

His name is Andy and the airplane is located at Lantana Airport, KLNA. His number is 561-358-3044.

For more information or help from me... [email protected]

Thanks!

What type of fabric? If it's cotton, it's likely due for a recover pretty soon, if not already. (Cotton that's always been kept in a hangar can surprise you sometimes as to how long it can last. Had a Stearman that punched in the low green for 10 years before it finally needed recovering, and it sat out for a while.)

If it's a dope finish on Ceconite, it might last forever. My Pitts was covered in 1970 I think, and it still punches better than 65 lbs. on all the top surfaces and the dope still shines up nicely.

I'm pretty sure its Stitts but will verify soon. The paint has a fair amount of gloss to it as well, so I would think aerothane type or something. As mentioned the airplane has been mostly sitting for quite some time. It will need a decent inspection before being able to be flown home to someone. Mike Mays lives 10 minutes away and would be the best option. But again it's a "Make an Offer" and go from there. Really no set price here.

These pictures were taken yesterday.

Seen this advertised on Barnstormers did I? Doesn't he have a C model project also? If so I would like to know about it.

Yes, that is my ad on barnstormers.

I'm heading out to the field tomorrow and will take many pictures of the C project. Let me know if you have any specific requests.

Looks like the registration has lapsed by a long time. Might a very difficult one to get the paperwork straightened out on. I see pin hinges- is it a short or long fuselage?

I am looking for a set of wings so might be interested in the project. If you are going to take more pics, some of the wings would be great. Also everything that goes along with the project. Where in Fl. Is it located? Am in Fl on business every other week at least.
