• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I thought I would share this experience. Somebody here might find this useful for their airplane. I wanted a good illustrator, to create me a custom logo for my project. So, I took this route:

This is a freelance website, where freelancers make bids for projects posted on the site. You browse the freelancers by grade, and invite someone that might be impressive, based upon their portfolio/feedback. www.upwork.com.

I created a project. Within 24 hours, 30 bids came in. While browsing the freelancers list, I came across this guy who I felt could be a good fit for what I wanted. http://www.upwork.com/o/profiles/users/_~014198aac9a56ced15/ .

So, I unpublished the project, and only invited this guy to the project and we agreed terms. The price I gave to the job was $150. I know after, I could have priced it for less than $100. But I was cautious of low balling (you get what you pay for, etc.).

The deliverable was a vector drawing, scale-able for large printouts, decals, wraps, etc. The last image is the final image. I am still pondering over the text 'airshows', my mind keeps thinking '$5 rides', 'Aviation', 'Air Services'...something that's fun, like the satire of ACME, where 'stuff never worked'.
