• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi all.

I've been kicking aroundthe idea of developing/managing hangar rentals as a side business to help support the payments on a property. In part, the success would hinge on the cost to put up some decent hangar space to replace beaten shade hangars.

I've looked at some used erect-a-tube units. The doors are a good value but overall i think the cost per unit of the entire setup isn't practical.

I want to avoid multiple planes behind a single door (common hangar) due to hangar rash and tenant A moving tenant B's plane etc.

I've lightly looked into pole barn construction, quonset hut, bi-fold doors, hung rolling doors, etc.

I'd like to hear from those that can offer suggestions on what to build. I'm looking for the most bang-for-buck in materials. The market in my area supports about $150 a month rental. I'd initially have around 10 units with probable expansion. I would also like to use similar construction alongside to store cars, boats,RV's on property.
