• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hello to all..
I just wanted to make my introducton on the forum and say thank you to all who are sharing great information and experience with their projects.
I'm starting construction on Hatz Classic # 41. Rib construction is well underway and should be complete by the end of the summer.I ended up buildingthree jigs before I was happy with the one I'm using and it works great. I'm very pleased with the quality of the ribs that are being built.
I plan to finish the wings and center section and be ready to cover in two years. I still haven't decided if I'm going to go with metal or covered ailerons. I like the look of both and would love to fly a Hatz with both to see if there is much difference in control pressure and feel. Anyone out there have ideas or experience having flown both?
I plan to purchase a frame from Jeff Shoemake with a few small changes added in during construction. I like the idea of an adjustable stabilizer and want to incorporate toe brakes and a control lock system taken for the Grumman Ag Cat that I flew for 14 years.
