• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Just wanted to say hi. I've been reading the forum for awhile and decided it was time to sign up and try to contribute. This forum has some of the best Pitts discussions I've found anywhere.

I bought a '77 Pitts S-1S a couple years ago from the original builder. It has been an excellent airplane and there haven't been any significant issues. I've been making some small incremental changes, but nothing big so far. I've been watching the discussions on the Wolf gear/cowl and the Raven wings with much interest.

I started competing a little and fly Intermediate. I can get through Advanced sequences, but I start running into performance limits on some maneuvers. Always need just a little more vertical and a little more roll rate :). My experience is more of a limit than the plane at this point.

Here's a picture of the plane.

Thanks,
Ian
