• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

There is so much knowledge, experience and opinions in this group, I really hope I can get a consensus on a serious question. What can I do to the top wing (or anywhere) to make me more visible? I used to think other pilots could not see me because I was not talking or listening to a radio. Well, I've solved that problem and now I talk like a 12 hour pilot at a flight school. Unfortunately, that didn't keep me from almost making national new last week, when after a single transmission of "I'm on a high speed downwind" I was 500 feet from being consumed by a 208 Caravan (when WE turned base) the pilot admitted he heard all my transmission around the pattern, but stated he could not see me! A maverick dive and turn saved that day but I now fully realize I have to try to do something to hopefully improve the chances of me being seen. So, what decal design/color and placement do you folks think might make it "a little" easier to see me? Or is 16 feet wide and 13 feet long just a safety burden I'll have to live with.
