• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi. I had my 360 rebuilt to 0 TSMOH a year ago. It wasn't pickled for storage as I expected to refit it within a couple of months of getting it back but for various reasons the date kept pushing back. It was test run for an hour but since then has had no oil in it. Every opening including carb inlet and exhaust ports has either plastic caps or layers of tape so here are no open ways into the engine. I have sprayed each pot with LPS 2 every week and turned the engine and I see no evidence of rust in the bores which I checked with a bore scope through the plug holes. So, what if anything could be wrong internally? Please don't just say strip it and check and please don't just speculate, I'm after some real information about what could be wrong and why so I can make a decision on what to do. Cheers, Gary.
