• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hey Guys,
I know it is just a One Wing Pacer but I enjoy working and building all types of tube and fabric planes.
A little history of the Mighty Pacer. It is a 1952 that Son bought while he was stationed in Bremerton WA.
At the time he was the Air Boss of the USS Nimitz and his two partners were F-18 Hornet Guys that wanted to get into GA. One had some Citabria time and the other had no tail wheel time. Son Trey is a CFII so he checked them out and they all enjoyed the Mighty Pacer. Now as you military guys know you have to move and stuff sold. Trey was being transferred to Corpus Christi/Kingsville NAS so I became his new Partner.
Grandson Chad and a Naval Aviator friend of ours flew the Pacer back from WA. to my place in Richmond TX.
It was a nice Pacer with a low time O-320 150HP and good fabric but I wanted to make it nicer with a few more STCs The STCs are Stewart wing tips which REALLY improve performance, a sky light which improves head clearance, a Sea Plane Door on the left side. makes it easier to get in, replaced old style wiring and starting with Lt. Wt. starter and eliminated hole in new nose bowl. Did quite a few other things to it along the way. Some of those include all new alum. parts cowling, door skin and such, new wiring, new firewall, new panel with some new instruments, all new windows and windshield, 850x6 tires, and made new Eng. baffling.
Yea I heard this quite a bit from Trey Dad WHY DO YOU want to take apart a perfectly good flying airplane??? :) Son that is just the way it is with airplanes.

The Mighty Pacer on the way to Tex. A night at the HOT Motel with firm beds.
