• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

One hundred ten years ago today marks the first heavier than air powered flight. Two high school dropouts from Dayton Ohio succeeded in solving one of the most challenging problems humans faced for centuries. To not only be able to fly, but to maintain control throughout.

Against the odds and competition from Sam Langley and his team of engineers along with the financial resources of the U.S. government and the Smithsonian Institution, Wilbur and Orville Wright prevailed aft...er several years of tireless dedication.

One of the best examples in the application of the scientific method in the 20th century culminated in the flip of a coin at Kill Devil Hill on the outer banks of North Carolina to see who would be the first to fly………Orville won the toss.

This photo taken December 17, 1903 by John Daniels, a volunteer and eyewitness captures the instant the Wright Flyer left the earth and changed the course of history.

No taxpayer money was used to fund the Wright Brothers work.
