Needing some summer time motivation! ( I'm making progress, slow as it seems...hope to have fuselage painted this week! Finally gave up on having someone come to me and blast from the rear seat forward so I'm loading it up and taking it Friday. It will get epoxy primed this weekend then Matterhorn white next week. Then I'm mounting the rebuilt gear. Thanks again Dave! The engine is slowly getting done. I got some super rare sodium filled valves in last week and just need to take them to Tulsa where my new cylinders are getting new hardened seats installed so they can also get installed. Can not wait to get the engine back on. It's coming along great...antique engines are not for the faint of heart, very frustrating finding parts etc but in the end I have a classic!) I'm going to be at the Biplane Expo in KS, hope to meet some other Starduster owners. Anyway just a quick update on mine...lets see some of yours. Project or flyers!

Lota, sounds like your making good progress! From reading your post it sounds like your in the OK, KS area, where are you located if you don't mind sharing? I'm in Wichita, feel free to stop by and check out my project on your way to junction city.

See! You all need to put something in your profile about where your from. Glad to see others from the mid-west. Ms. smith and I will not be making a lot of trips to either coasts just to attend a function. But one day's flying will always be on the table.

Dave...thanks for sharing the pics! I love seeing all the different Stardusters. Can you tell us more about the "Seaduster"? Keepem coming guys. Very interesting to see all these, I wish more would make it to the fly-ins. I'd bet a large percentage of Stardusters are sitting because owners/builders are not flying anymore etc. makes since since most of these were built in 1970s-1990s. Need to inspire the next generation and give them something to look at besides an RV...not that there's anything wrong with an RV, they just aren't a Duster!

I really like the cowl in the yellow and green Starduster in the 2nd picture in post #5. Does anybody know if it is a one off or from some other kit like an RV-8.

The red SA100 (N199JF) is one that I welded up, and did all the test flying on. It was two inches wider and deeper in the cockpit, two inches were added to the wing chord, and the landing gear lengthened five inches. It was a dream to fly. It didn't climb, it levitated! Now owned by Jan Fronk in Provo, UT.

Very nice Danny! It looks like a great plane. We're the mods one offs or been done before?

One thing for sure, Stardusters (all variants) have some creative paint lobs.
