• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Fellers---

I'm up to the point of having sprayed the first filler/primer coat on the Loehle system. Just wanted to put a quick plug in here for it.

So far---the stuff is as easy to work with as any other system I've used (Poly-Fiber, Ceconite, Razorback, Eonex). One thing I really like about it better than the others--the cement flows out very smoothly on the edges of the tapes, etc....doesn't rope up and lays down very flat.

Brushing the sealer coat takes a little different technique---but is easy to do---just be sure to wet it out thoroughly.

Spraying is a breeze---just use the right thinner for your temps---or one slightly slower (IE for a higher temp).

Once you spray the first coat ( a single coat--not a cross coat), you have enough build-up of mil thickness to sand and smooth it all up nicely---only gets better with subsequent coats.

Am working on engine mount and sheetmetal now---will update on Loehle stuff once I get this done and start spraying the final filler/primer coats and topcoats.
