• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hello All,

I joined a yahoo group about a year ago that is dedicated to lycoming engines and their quirks. It will innundate you with email, but presents an amazing amount of material about operational and maintenance issues with these engines. The group is made up mostly of experimental aircraft types and even includes an experiencedLycoming factory employeewho provides valuable inside information (only as a private individual to limit liability to the company, no doubt).

Anyway, to join the group justclick on theyahoo "Groups" button and search for "lycoming". If you don't have and email account on yahoo, you can join for free. This group list has provided me with information (and sometimes entertainment) that has really helped my understanding of the engine.

Enjoy,
Bobby

p.s. I am planning to find a first run Lyc IO-540 or O-540for my Skybolt project when the time comes.
